2024 Student Leadership Conference at MSS - Future Ready!

On Tuesday, November 5th, Mount Sentinel Secondary hosted the SD8 Student Leadership Conference: "Future Readiness in a Changing World" 

The event brought Grades 8-12 together to explore a variety of topics related to being ready for the future including increasing use of artificial intelligence in educational and career settings. 

Highlights included Pow Wow Dancers Lyric Levesque, Destiny Levesque and Nikita Shlakoff from Trafalgar Middle School; conference opener and Cree Métis Elder Donna Wright; an inspiring keynote speech from Jason Taylor, Chair of Selkirk Technology Access Centre who spoke on "Making AI Useful in Education"; a Future Ready Trade Show; and a dynamic KIVA panel featuring recent SD8 graduates and current students. 

Thanks to SD8 students and staff at Mount Sentinel Secondary for hosting the conference as well as welcoming conference delegates and guests including the Board of Education and student trustees. Thanks to SD8 staff from Innovative Learning for organizing the conference, and Operations staff for busing and custodial services.
